Review This Product. The Latest. Bike of the Day: Banshee Titan 1. Hit the Tennessee National with Neko Mulally 1. Most Popular. What's New? Invisible Bike - Daily Shot 2.Sorry Pops, but some things have to change. The The models have the same travel, the same two bottom-bracket-height options and the same chainstay length.
The head angle slackened by 1 degree, but it can still be adjusted independently of bottom-bracket height. On the trail, the Insurgent displayed everything we love about Evil. It weighs less than 29 pounds and feels even lighter under foot.Css random position
It has one of the stiffest frames in the category and nearly the meanest geometry. While climbing out of the saddle or sprinting, the unique DELTA linkage offers a reliably firm platform.
The Dave Weagle-designed DELTA combines a supple early stroke, a moderate ramp-up mid-stroke and a steeper ramp-up just before bottoming out. The Insurgent charged confidently through large hits, and when they occasionally ate up all of its millimeters of travel, the bottom-out was so soft that we rarely felt it. The magic on any Evil is the firm mid-stroke, which allows its bottomless-feeling rear squish to also feel playful and responsive. It pumped through berms and rocketed off jumps like a shorter-travel bike, and had a masterful sweet spot for slides and manuals, thanks to subinch chainstays.
But, to be fair, the company did a whole lot more than slap mid-size wheels on a previous frame. We sent off questions before the bike ever rolled into our barn in Vermont. What sets the Insurgent apart from some similar bikes that riders might be looking at in ?
KW: Our bike is exactly the same as all the others, the main difference is your purchase directly influences when I can buy a new Lamborghini, sell the company and buy an island. Just kidding. We revisited the geometry and updated the leverage rate curve and made it more prettier than the Uprising. Basically lower, longer and slacker with a more progressive leverage rate curve and, again, more prettier…. VF: Are there any aspects of the frame design that you guys are particularly proud of?
If so, what are they and why? VF: Are there conditions in which you feel this bike really excels and, if so, what specific design attributes of the bike make that so? VF: Component spec can be tough to nail—What were you aiming for with the spec on this bike? KW: When we are selecting spec, its pretty simple. This really takes ride quality out of the equation and places more emphasis on component selection. KW: We have done extensive testing with both Rockshox and Fox.
VF: Are there any details or features on this bike that you think are particularly critical to its performance that might be easily overlooked? KW: I think suspension tuning would be the thing that stands out the most. We post tunes on our website and we encourage everyone to experiment with different volume spacer and air configurations.

The tailoring of any bike is an important step in the long term enjoyment of riding and it can take time to adjust to the fit of a new bike. All contact points pedals, shoes, and saddle can be changed and altered for personal preference, performance, and comfort. These bicycles are good as new, often built right out of the box from the manufacturer. Original stickers, parts, and accessories are included. The frame and wheels might have minor blemishes or scuffs from transportation or showroom display.
Drivetrain, levers, cockpit, and suspension where applicable are in new condition. While these bikes have been ridden, they remain in excellent condition. Frame and wheels show slight signs of wear with only minor scuffs and scratches — no paint chipping. The drivetrain shows light wear but the derailleurs, shifters, and levers have not sustained any damage.
The cockpit has light wear, primarily on the grips or handlebar tape. Bikes with suspension components have minor scuffs and scratches on the fork legs and shock, and the stanchions are immaculate. To earn a rating in this range, bicycles have sustained some wear but no significant damage. The drivetrain will have wear from normal usage and there will be slight scratches and scuffs on derailleurs, shifters, and levers.
Cockpit, saddle, and suspension lowers where applicable will also have cosmetic scuffs and scratches. This awesome Evil Frame includes a rear shock and headset. Here's the deal, the Insurgent has the same fearless handling up front and short rear end that makes whipping the bike through corners obscenely fun. But Evil didn't just slap on slightly bigger wheels to the existing frame.
The Insurgent gets many of the frame improvements that debuted on our Following model—most notably a lighter monocoque front triangle and a streamlined version of Dave Weagle's DELTA suspension system.Cloudera manager
We also gave the Insurgent a sleek, integrated chain guide and designed the frame to allow better access to your rear shock, for all those moments when you want to get all fiddly with the thing. While we're on the subject of fiddling, the Insurgent also sports four different geometry positions that enable to you fine-tune the bike to fit your riding style and location, without adding yet another bike to your quiver.
Why six inches of suspension? Evil could have picked any travel they wanted without concern of being pigeonholed as a "trail" or "enduro" bike, but millimeters that's euro for "six inches" simply created the best balance between a fun, lively and responsive bike that can pop of everything and still crush the roughest of rock gardens.
Did we mention the cackling and the roost a-flying? Because, really, that's the point.

If the reason for the cancellation is unexpected we may be able to release some of the components to the value of your deposit back to yourself, this will be at the discretion of the shop manager. Special order bikes are bikes that are modified before they leave us. For example, if you are having an Invisi Kit fitted to your bike it would be classed as a special order. This means that if you were to cancel your order once the deposit is paid you would not be entitled to a deposit refund.
The returns policy remains the same as for UK customers, only the cost of returning an unwanted bike will differ and will be calculated on an individual basis.Loading Groups Choose Color:. Choose Group:. Is there a sport more stuck in its traditions than cycling typically? Even mountain bikes get pigeonholed — enduro, DH, XC, all-mountain — everyone seems to need a tag. Or do they? Balanced handling, balanced suspension.
This is a And with the addition of Boost 12 x mm rear end spacing, you will have serious confidence in its durability and your control. The frame has been made from Uni Directional Carbon with One Piece Molded construction to keep it lightweight and fantastically durable.
Then making clever use of the DELTA System for the rear suspension pivot, The Insurgent takes advantage of a redesign which reduces the weight of the system while increasing the lateral stiffness. A dog bone link uses integrated forged bosses to connect the linkage which will incidentally make it easier to maintain too.
A SAG meter on the non-drivetrain side will make it easy for you to customize your suspension setup. Using the Flip Chip allows you to change the BB height and head angle by flipping around the chip. So if you are into all day endurance tours, then you can stick on a fork, set the Flip Chip to Low and have a Internal cable routing for the dropper seatpost will ensure a crisp clean look.
Something else new for the LB version of the Insurgent is the addition of water bottle bosses to fit a cage inside the front triangle. If you hate wearing a water pack, this will be a game changer. And those fashionistas out there can get excited about the two new colors for the Insurgent LB: a striking silver appropriately named the Freddy Mercury, and Yogurt Truck, which is a non-antiseptic white. What are we rebelling against?
Whatcha got? The Following. The Calling. The Insurgent LB. The Offering.Shape and Purpose. A bike that likes to party. Snappy, low and slack say the Evil guys.
And correctly so. Certainly with a mm bottom bracket and And more than this, a crazy light bike at sub 28lbs. And you have to agree. A good start. A bike simply slammed with fine detail and visibly one of the all-time lookers.
The Evil Insurgent has a high volume air canister to complement the progressive spring curve, whilst the linkage has been completely redesigned and Evil say the focus in now on simplicity, weight reduction and strength. Up front a mm Lyrik will always do the job admirably and it matches the paintwork.
The colour co-ordination is pure and simply faultless. On the hoof the Evil has an immediately lively ride as a result of its light weight. Where it does outscore many other mm bikes is in blown out ground, big holes, big roots and horrible rock. The rear suspension is very impressive and beautifully understandable in such situations. The compression settings did not offer large differential between settings which meant that climbing could have been better in the firm setting.
We found the front a touch low on the front and had to raise the bar. The E Thirteen tyres were an impressive part with excellent shape and grip.
After a few runs there was creaking and after a few more there was knocking. We sourced this to loose link bolts and was nipped in the bud pretty rapidly to remedy the noise. The sag indicator was a touch vague as we had two riders with a twenty kilo difference getting pretty much the same readings.
Work on it and get it correct is the recommendation here, maybe getting the shock measurement is a better option. Anything else?Long range sailboats
Noisy wheels, such very noisy wheels. We liked the tyres too but the pedals pulled out of the aluminium inserts in the crank after a couple of rides. Without doubt visually one of the stand out bikes of the bike world. It comes with marketing attitude, good looks and a weighty price to go with its lightweight build.
On the flat we found ourselves over the back and on the real steep found slightly too much weight being placed forwards. Noise was certainly not evident on our Airdrop mm bike which we rode side by side during the test period. As much as the Lyrik delivers in big terrain a Fox 36 would take the bike a small step further as would a silent set of wheels further still for that full deadly feel. The loudness kind of goes against the stealth vibe. Overall though?
We really like the feel of this bike, the low swooping frame, the powerful rear suspension character, the banging angles and just the right amount of flex in its bones. New to enduro bikes? Rolling up to a busy trailhead aboard the Insurgent, Evil's latest carbon creation, is a surefire way to draw a crowd of inqusitive riders, attracted like moths to a flame by the bike's striking looks, and in this case an extra bright paint job called Slimeball.
With Kevin Walsh, Evil's owner, wanted the Insurgent to fit his definition of a mountain bike, something that could be configured for everything from trail rides to days in the bike park. Two geometry settings allow riders to choose just how low and slack they want the bike to be, and the head angle and bottom bracket height can be tweaked even further depending on whether a or mm fork is installed up front. The sloping top tube provides a generous amount of standover clearance.
An integrated carbon fiber chain guide helps ensure the chain stays exactly where it should. Evil sought to create an extra-stiff swingarm, which reduced the amount of room between the chain and chainstay.
Tire clearance has been greatly improved over the 26" Uprising, and there's now room to fit most 2. Riding the Insurgent. The Insurgent's no slouch on the climbs, but it's happiest once gravity takes over.Daz realistic skin
Evil have created a trail smashing monster with the Insurgent. It'd be easy to call it 'a downhiller's trail bike,' but that's fast becoming a tired cliche, and I'd say that the Insurgent is actually more than that.
This is a bike that's capable of making a rider wonder if they even really need a DH bike, especially since it can be pedaled to the top of gnarly trails without too much fuss.
There are a few quibbles, including the lack of water bottle mounts and the tight chain clearance, but the Insurgent's brilliant handling on the descents makes them fade into the background. The decade he spent as a bike mechanic helped create a solid technical background to draw from when reviewing products, and his current location in the Pacific Northwest allows for easy access to the wettest, muddiest conditions imaginable.
And at the office one day, Dave yelled out to the staff "I've got a killer new rear suspension system, it's the fourth one I've designed so I really wanna use the acronym DELTA.
